Our Story

After a successful 10 years teaching in a the Bridgend county, Sarah Mawer decided to leave teaching for a while to develop an idea she had been nurturing for sometime. From her own experiences of child development and early childhood experiences, Sarah decided to put her knowledge and ideas to work for the good of both parents and children.

"In 1997 I was running a small classroom for children with Communication difficulties. I was nominated for a Teaching Award and went on to win Special Needs Teacher of the Year for Wales. Some people could never understand why parents and professionals praised my classroom, and why we gained the results with the children. To me it’s always been a simple equation, if children enjoy where they are, love what they are doing and have fun with what they experience – then learning will occur! This is what we hope to create in our play centre."

Our Answers

Where are you located?

We are in the center of Bridgend, just behind the train station on Ogmore Terrace. We have our own car park but there is also a county run car park a few metres away. If you are travelling down Tremains Road towards the town centre, we are the last left before the traffic lights at the bottom of the hill. At the end of Ogmore Terrace turn left again and you’re at Once Upon a Playtime. Back to questions
